Volleyball Falls to Ashland 3-1

The Dragons (7-5, 2-2 G-MAC) continued their grueling start to the season with their 12th consecutive match on the road, this time at Ashland University on Saturday afternoon.

Each of the sets were hard fought between the two sides but it was the Eagles that came out victorious by a final score of 3-1 (27-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-15).

Tiffin started the match off with a 4-0 run, taking an early lead. However, Ashland fought back and both teams traded blows throughout the first set. Tied at 24, a kill by Alivia Rew handed the Dragons the set-point advantage before back-to-back kills from the Eagles followed by a block earned them the 1-0 lead.

The Dragons could not replicate their offensive success from the first set as the team's hitting percentage declined from .343 in the first set to just .084 in the second.

The one and only set victory for Tiffin came in the third set and just as the first set, took overtime to be decided. Tied at 25, a kill from Kenedi Goon gifted the Dragons the advantage before a solo block by Rew pulled Tiffin to within one at 2-1.

The Eagles would slam the door shut in the fourth set after taking a commanding 10-2 lead early on. Tiffin could not find its footing offensively to recover as the set ended 25-15.

Wakaya Wilson was a standout for the Dragons both offensively and defensively as she totaled 15 kills and 16 digs. Goon performed well, tallying 12 kills and three total blocks followed by Taylor Peterson just missing out on her first double-double of the season with nine kills and 17 digs.

Addison Conti racked up a season-high 40 assists for the match while Lexi Barber recorded a season-high in digs with 20.

The Dragons remain on the road for one more match against Cedarville on Tuesday, September 26th at 7 p.m. Tiffin then returns home for its home-opener the following Friday against Kentucky Wesleyan.
