The Tiffin University volleyball team edged Ursuline 3-2 in their season opener. The Dragons won the first two sets 25-13, 25-22, lost the next two sets 25-18, 25-22, and won the final set 15-10. 

The Dragons improve to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Arrows drop to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

As a team, Tiffin hit .089 with 57 kills and 38 errors, while Ursuline hit .090 with 50 kills and 32 errors.  

Tiffin came out strong, going on a 14-4 run to start the first set. The Dragons never relinquished their lead and won the first set 25-13.

In the second set the Arrows went up early to lead 6-3, but the Dragons would counter with a seven point run to lead 9-6. The Arrows rallied again to regain the lead at 17-16.

Grace Schreiber's two kills put Tiffin back in the lead, and the Dragons closed out the second set up 25-22.

Tiffin never led in the second set as the team hitting percentage averaged -.019 while Ursuline hit 0.070. Ursuline went on to win the third set 25-18.

The Arrows went up 6-3 to start the fourth set but the Dragons clawed back to tie the set at 21 all. Ursuline outscored Tiffin 4-1 over the final five points to tie the match at two sets apiece. 

The Dragons' offense pushed early in the final frame to lead 7-4, but the Arrows rallied to tie the set at 7-7. The Dragons responded by outscoring the Arrows 8-3 to win the match, 3-2. 

Alicia Kessler led the Dragons with 19 kills, three digs and 1.5 blocks followed by Grace Schreiber who notched 13 kills with a 0.345 hitting percentage, four digs, 1.5 blocks and a service ace. Loryn Huffman registered 51 assists and 23 digs, and teammate Sam Fallis collected 33 digs and two service aces. 

Up next Tiffin will head to Trevecca Nazarene next Friday for a 6 p.m. start time.
