Huffman Named Great Midwest Athlete of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS - After an exceptional effort in Tiffin Women's Volleyball's three games last week, Jenna Huffman has been named the G-MAC Volleyball West Division Player of the Week.

Huffman played a key role in Tiffin's 3-0 week, as the Dragons defeated Walsh, Ohio Dominican, and Ohio Valley each in straight sets to improve to 8-0 in the G-MAC and 13-3 overall.

In the three games, the junior combined to hit .565 with 37 kills and just two errors on 62 attempts. She also tallied 20 digs and 19 total blocks (eight solo) to aid the Dragon effort.

While Huffman's numbers definitely stand out from each of the three games, the matches with Walsh and Ohio Dominican were exceptional. Against Walsh at home on Tuesday, the junior recorded 15 kills with just one error to hit .560. At ODU on Friday, Huffman hit an incredible .667 with 13 kills and one error. She also had seven blocks in each of those contests, including five solo blocks against Walsh.

In the G-MAC this season, Huffman currently ranks second in points per set (4.13), second in blocks per set (1.09), third in hitting percentage (.351), and tenth in kills per set (3.13).

During the week's action, Huffman also passed Katie Luker '09 for seventh-place in program history with a new mark of 339 total blocks in her career.

As a team, the Dragons are off to a historic start, as their 11-game winning streak ties the program record for consecutive wins in a row, equaling the mark set by the 1991 squad. Tiffin is also off to their best start in Division II history through 16 games (13-3), which is also tied with that 1991 team, who went on to begin their season 21-3.

Tiffin now looks ahead to this weekend's slate that features matchups with their toughest G-MAC competition yet, hosting Findlay (3rd in West Division) on Friday and visiting Hillsdale (2nd in West Division) on Saturday.
