The Tiffin University volleyball team rose to the occasion last weekend, winning two GLIAC games to earn a bid to the GLIAC Tournament. This week, Tiffin will tangle with #21 Wheeling Jesuit in a non-conference game and then Ashland in the season finale on Saturday.

Series Record: The Dragons have never beaten the Cardinals, falling in all four matchups since the 2007-08 season.

Last Matchup: It has been a long layoff between matches for the two schools, last playing each other in 2009-10. The Dragons lost the match in straight sets to fall to 0-4 in games against Wheeling Jesuit.

Cardinals Cruising: Wheeling Jesuit is rolling right now, winning 23 straight games. The Cardinals are #21 in the AVCA poll, #1 in the Atlantic Region, and are 14-0 in the Mountain East Conference. Of their 23 consecutive victories, 15 have been in straight sets. 

Take Me Home: Wheeling Jesuit is 26-4 overall this season, posting a 14-0 home record. The Cardinals have won 108 straight home matches, with their last loss coming on October 2, 2012. 

Model Of Consistency: The Cardinals dominated what used to be called the WVIAC and is now the Mountain East Conference. They've dominated the Atlantic Region, and in the NCAA Tournament have had huge success. Since 2011, Wheeling Jesuit is 256-28, winning every Atlantic Regional and qualifying for the national tournament. The Cardinals have advanced to the Final Four twice, the Elite Eight four times, and in 2015 won the National Championship.

Dragons Peaking At The Right Time: The Dragons are hitting their stride at the right time, winning four straight matches and earning a spot in the conference tournament. Tiffin currently sits 6th in the GLIAC, trailing a half game behind Wayne State. 

 

Tiffin University vs. Ashland University 

Series Record: The Eagles hold a commanding lead over the Dragons, posting a 13-1 record against Tiffin since the 2008-09 season. Tiffin's lone victory came in 2010.

Last Matchup: The Eagles dropped Tiffin back in September in straight sets. Ashland has been excellent at home, posting a 9-2 record inside Kates Gymnasium. The road has been a completely different story for the Eagles, winning only two of their eight road games thus far.

Holding On For Dear Life: The Eagles are two games behind Tiffin in the GLIAC standings, and are a half game behind Davenport for 7th. The Eagles hold the final GLIAC Tournament seed, but hold only a one game lead over Northwood. 

Curry Time: Junior Amanda Curry was named GLIAC Player of the Week for her offensive outburst last week. Amanda swatted 37 kills in three matches, averaging 3.70 kills per set.

Lattimore Keeps Climbing: Taylor Lattimore continues to inch closer to some pretty impressive records with every dig. She currently has 2,372 career digs, needing 22 more to sit 2nd in Tiffin history and move inside the NCAA's career top 30. To become the GLIAC's all-time leader, Lattimore needs 116 more digs.
