GLIAC Coaches' Poll Places Dragons 4th In Southern Division

The Tiffin University volleyball team received 50 points in the GLIAC Coaches' Poll, placing them 4th in the southern division. The Dragons come in behind #1 Ashland, #2 Grand Valley State, and #3 Wayne State.

The Tiffin University volleyball team, under the direction of first year head coach Shauna Hurles, will look to build off their 19 win 2016 season. Hurles, an assistant coach in 2016, took over the program and inherits a talented group of players. Defensive specialist Taylor Lattimore led Tiffin and the GLIAC with 620 digs. She was the GLIAC's Libero of the Year and was a D2CCA All-Region selection.

Jenna Huffman and Danielle Hicks return as the top hitters for the Dragons. Huffman led the Dragons with 349 kills, 3.01 kills per set, a .347 hitting percentage, 141 blocks, and 1.22 blocks per set. Huffman led the GLIAC in blocks and blocks per set, and nationally finished inside the top 10 in total blocks. Jenna was the GLIAC's Blocker of the Year, and her 1st team D2CCA All-Region selection was the first for Tiffin since 1994. Danielle Hicks had a solid season for Tiffin, accumulating 235 kills, 75 digs, and 32 blocks for the Dragons.

Emily Weithman collected 1,255 assists last season, her second straight year of 1,000 or more. Emily averaged 10.73 kills per set, and chipped in with 82 kills and 240 digs. Heading into her junior season, Weithman already sits 7th in the Tiffin career record book for assists.

The Dragons open their season at the Christian Brothers Tournament, playing Newman, Arkansas-Monticello, Assumption, and Christian Brothers. The Dragons' first GLIAC game is on the road on September 15, against Wayne State.
