Tiffin Topples Oakland City and Ursuline

The Tiffin University volleyball team kept right on rolling at the Kentucky Wesleyan Tournament, sweeping Oakland City and Ursuline.

The Dragons opened the day tangling with Oakland City, and pummeled the Oaks 3-0, winning 25-16, 25-16, and 25-21. The Dragons trailed 2-0 early in set one, but used a 5-0 run to take a 19-11 lead. Tiffin put the game away with a kill by Kasey Adelsperger. In the second set, Tiffin and Oakland City were tied early, but another run by the Dragons gave Tiffin the lead and momentum as they cruised to a 25-16 win. The final set saw Tiffin lead early, but the Oaks stormed back to take a 10-9 lead. TU responded with a 4-0 run to regain control and ultimately win 25-21.

Tiffin was led by Kasey Adelsperger with 11 kills and a .444 hitting percentage. Jenna Huffman added 10 kills and Emily Weithman collected 36 assists.

Tiffin vs. Ursuline

The Dragons kept the line moving in game two, bouncing the Arrows in three sets, 25-15, 25-19, and 25-13.

Tiffin scored early and often against the Arrows, building an eight point lead en route to a 10 point set one victory. In set two, Ursuline kept pace early, but were unable to keep up as the set moved on. Tiffin put the set away with a 4-0 run, with the final point coming via an attack error by the Arrows. The Dragons broke the Arrows back in the final set, racing ahead to a 19-7 lead, and motoring home with a 25-13 win.

Tiffin was led in kills by Jenna Huffman with 11. Olivia Cobb added nine kills to the scorebook, and the assist machine, Emily Weithman, logged 30 more assists.

The sweep moves the Dragons to 6-2 overall. TU will jump into GLIAC competition next week, traveling to Detroit, Michigan to play the Wayne State Warriors on September 16.
