Yellow Jackets sting Dragons

The Tiffin University women's volleyball team dropped a four set match on Tuesday evening, falling to the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets 3-1.

The Dragons came to play in set one, using a 12-0 run to down Cedarville 25-17. Tiffin had their best hitting set, logging a .314 hitting percentage. TU took advantage of Cedarville's slow start, capitalizing on the Yellow Jackets' seven attack errors.

Cedarville awoke in set two, trailing only once, on their way to a 25-21 win. The Dragons totaled only eight kills, while committing five attack errors for a .097 hitting percentage. 

The 3rd set was the tightest of the four, with the Dragons falling behind early. Tiffin, trailing 24-19, found their groove, scoring five consecutive points to tie the set at 24-24. Cedarville put an end to Tiffin's comeback hopes, finishing the set with back to back kills to preserve a 26-24 win. Both teams committed only six attack errors, but the Yellow Jackets held a slim 16-13 advantage in kills.

Cedarville kept the momentum rolling in the 4th set, jumping out to an early 12-7 lead. The Yellow Jackets continued to extend their lead, moving ahead 17-10. Tiffin had one last gasp left, fighting back to cut the Cedarville lead to 17-14. The Dragons were unable to complete the comeback, as Cedarville held on to defeat Tiffin 25-21.

The Dragons were led by Amanda Curry with 12 kills and a .308 hitting percentage. Jenna Huffman played solid defense for the Dragons, assisting on nine blocks.

The non-conference loss drops Tiffin to 12-10 overall. The Dragons will be back on the court Friday, welcoming in the Hillsdale College Chargers.
