Cordova takes on new position

Dana Cordova has resigned as Head Volleyball Coach at Tiffin University and will become the Director of Retention and Development for the Athletic Department.

Cordova, who has been the Dragons coach since 2010, is second in career victories for Tiffin University with 87. She led the Dragons to their best season in 10 years in 2016, as TU finished 19-12, 9-8 in the GLIAC. The 19 victories were also the most TU has posted since competing as a Division II member.

Cordova's new activities will involve working with the academic progress of all Tiffin University's student-athletes while also working with the community in developing sponsors and support throughout the year.

"I thank the university and the Tiffin University family for the great experience I've had here to help direct the volleyball  program into Division II & the GLIAC," said Cordova. "I have been fortunate enough to work with great players and assistant coaches over the past seven years.  And I wish the student-athletes the best in future seasons. I look forward to pursuing the challenges in my new position. I hope to contribute much to the overall success of the athletic department. "

"We are pleased to have Dana take on this new role with the athletic department," Tiffin University Athletic Director Lonny Allen said. "Dana has played an important role in our athletic department since she started. Dana has often taken on other roles here such as being women's golf coach, driving buses, game management, and so on. After having a very successful season, we wanted to channel her leadership into an area that can benefit the entire athletic department. We look forward to seeing her contributions to this position."

Dragons assistant coach Shauna Hurles has been named interim head volleyball coach.

"I'm really grateful for the opportunity to continue to guide the volleyball program," said Hurles. "I hope to do some good things over the next few months as the program continues to develop. Dana and I believe we have the program heading in the right direction, and I hope to continue that positive direction based on the groundwork that we've laid."
