Tennis Earns Multiple ITA Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2019 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Thursday afternoon, with Tiffin well represented on both the men's and women's sides.

Each program received the All-Academic Team honor, which is given to teams that post a GPA of 3.20 or higher. 

Additionally, seven members of the men's team and five members of the women's team earned Scholar-Athlete recognition. ITA scholar-athletes must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).

On the men's side, the seven honorees are Tom Arias, Ryan Breard, Caleb Carter, Ryan Gase, Austin Mohamedali, Sorin Navrotchi, and Gabriel de Oliveira. For the women, the five honorees are Shea Foster, Anais Geslin, Abbie-Jade Riley, Emily Sim, and Juliette Sirgant.

This year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association saw an increase in qualifying teams and scholar-athletes, as All-Academic honors were awarded to 940 teams and thousands of scholar-athletes.
