Dragons win big regional match 6-3 vs Lakers

Tiffin University Women's Tennis just keeps rolling through opponents with a big ranked win on Saturday. The Lady Dragons took on #4 in the region and #37 in the nation Grand Valley State University in a hard fought match, winning 6-3.

The Dragons started off strong, winning 2 of the 3 doubles matches. The Dragons have had some ups and downs on the year for their doubles teams, but have come up with big matches when it counted. A quick victory at 1st doubles gave the Dragons an early lead when Nelhage/Kaye took a fast 8-1 victory over Ballard/Sweeney of GVSU. TU's second doubles team of Musina/Sim stepped up big time with an 8-4 victory over Moccia/Sumner. TU's lone loss came at 3rd doubles where Perkins/Christman of GVSU took down Avram/Brozovich 8-3.

Singles was where the Dragons continued their control and dominance of the match, winning 4 of the 6 singles matches. Former GLIAC Player of the Week Nelhage showed why she's a top player in the conference with a convincing 6-3, 6-0 victory over GVSU's Ballard. Adel Musina continued her strong play with a 6-2, 6-3 win putting Tiffin ever closer to that elusive 5th win to take the match. Emily Sim won her match via the 10 point tie breaker as she defeated Perkins 7-5 3-6 10-3. 4th singles was a big win for the Dragons as Bianca Avram showed up with a solid 6-3, 6-1 win. Aimee Kaye dropped her match at 5th singles 6-1, 5-7, 13-11 and Rae Brozovich lost her 6th singles match 6-2 ,6-3.

TU improves to 8-1 (6-1 in the GLIAC) and will surely climb further ahead in the regional rankings as TU currently sits at #6.
