With last weekends U.P. sweep, the Tiffin University women's soccer team punched their ticket to their first GLIAC Tournament appearance since the 2012 season. The Dragons are 5-8-1 overall and 4-3 in the GLIAC, sitting in 4th place. The Dragons sit a game behind 3rd place Ferris State.

Tiffin University vs. Northwood University

Series Record: It has been a very close series between the Timberwolves and Dragons, with Tiffin holding a 5-4-1 lead. The Timberwolves have pulled closer to the Dragons thanks to a four game winning streak against Tiffin. 

Last Matchup: The Timberwolves took down the Dragons last season 1-0, scoring a 1st half goal on a rebound off a Tiffin defender. 

Down and Out Defense: The Timberwolves dropped a pair of games last weekend, falling to Davenport and Saginaw Valley State. Northwood's defense surrendered eight goals in total, and are allowing the second most goals per game in the GLIAC. In their last six games, the Timberwolves have allowed 21 goals.

Offensive Efficiency: The Timberwolves lead the GLIAC in shots on goal percentage, with 51.8% of their shots coming on goal.

Youth: The Timberwolves are a very young team, with over half of the roster being freshman. 

Players To Watch:

Ashton Brooks: The freshman forward is leading the Timberwolves in goals with 10 and points with 20. In the GLIAC, Brooks is tied for 2nd in the GLIAC and is tied for 4th in points.

Talene Nercesian: Having scored a pair of goals, Nercesian is second on the team in goals, points, and tied for the team lead in assists.

 

Tiffin University vs. Saginaw Valley State University 

Series Record: The Cardinals have been dominant against Tiffin, holding a 12-2-1 lead over the Dragons. The last time Tiffin defeated Saginaw Valley State was in the 2012 season.

Last Matchup: The Dragons and Cardinals played twice last year, one being a GLIAC game, the other an in region matchup. The Cardinals won both matches, dropping Tiffin 5-0 and 4-2.

Cardinals Climbing: The Saginaw Valley State Cardinals have won two straight games, and are a half game behind the Dragons for 4th. Saginaw Valley State combined for a 10-0 weekend scoring margin, defeating Purdue Northwest 6-0 and Northwood 4-0.

Goalie By Committee: The Cardinals are second in the GLIAC in shutouts with five. The combination of Isabel Bauer and Alyssa Watts have accounted for the shutouts and have allowed only 16 goals in 1,200:56 minutes.

Players To Watch:

Valentina Giambanco: Leading the Cardinals in goals and tied for the lead in assists, Valentina has two game winning goals to her credit this year.

Isabel Bauer: The Cardinals keeper has played in 10 games, collecting 36 saves and has three shutouts.
