Bulldogs and Lakers Coming To Tiffin For Weekend Matches

The Tiffin University women's soccer team had a great weekend, defeating Purdue Northwest and Davenport. The Dragons dropped the Pride of Purdue Northwest 5-1 last Friday and then defeated Davenport University 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday. 

Tiffin University vs. Ferris State University 

Last Matchup: The Dragons and Bulldogs battled three weeks ago, with the Bulldogs defeating Tiffin 2-1. The Dragons allowed the game-winning goal with less than eight minutes remaining. 

Bulldogs: Ferris State is 6-5 through 11 games this year, winning 3 of their last 4 matches. In the GLIAC, the Bulldogs are 2-1. 

Tough Loss: Ferris State tangled with the #5 Grand Valley State Lakers last Sunday and came oh so close to dropping the Lakers. A goal just 12 minutes in made the difference. The Bulldogs fired seven shots with only two coming on goal. 

More Shots, More Wins: In five of Ferris State's six wins they've totaled 20 or more shots. In the GLIAC the Bulldogs are 2nd in shots per game (21.0) and leads the GLIAC in shots on goal (115) and shots (231). 

Shutout Syndrome: The Bulldogs are 2-3 on the road and in all five losses this season Ferris State has not scored a goal. 

Players To Watch: 

Carley Dubbert – Leading the Bulldogs in goals with six, Dubbert is 3rd in the GLIAC in goals and points. 

Grace Craft – The starting keeper for the Bulldogs is allowing only 1.06 goals per game and is saving 85.9% of the shots against her. Kraft has 55 saves this season, 3rd in the GLIAC. 

 

Tiffin University vs. #5 Grand Valley State University

Last Matchup: It was all Grand Valley State the last time these two teams played, with the Lakers defeating Tiffin 9-0. 

Lakers Rising: Grand Valley State dropped a pair of games to start their season, and since then have reeled off eight straight wins. Grand Valley State has beaten two ranked teams this season, the most recent being a 2-0 win over #18 Quincy. 

Defensively Unbelievable: The Lakers have not had a goal scored against them since September 4. Opponents have accumulated 70 less shots on goal and 127 less total shots than the Lakers. GVSU hasn't allowed a goal to a GLIAC opponent since October 28, 2016 when they allowed a single goal to Ferris State.

Gabriella Mencotti – Leading the Lakers in goals (9), points (20), and shots (66), Mencotti is 8th in the nation in total goals. 

Jennifer Steinaway – The keeper for the Lakers is as good as they come, allowing only 0.71 goals per game. She has 28 saves and five shutouts.
