The Tiffin University women's soccer team encountered early troubles in their neutral site matchup with the University of Illinois at Springfield, but the Dragons battled back to force double overtime in a 2-2 draw.

The Prairie Stars wasted little time on the offensive side of the ball, using a goal off a corner kick at the 08:28 mark in the first half to take an early 1-0 lead. Tiffin stayed aggressive on the offensive side, drawing even at the 26:16 mark. Leanne Tobin lined up a corner kick and delivered a ball to Svetlana Gudenkova for a header goal to tie the score at 1-1. The connection between Tobin and Gudenkova is the second in as many games.

At the half, Illinois-Springfield held a 18-9 advantage in shots and a 6-2 lead in corner kicks. Tiffin goalkeeper, Samantha Ortenzi was under constant attack, saving six shots in the opening half.

The second half was eerily similar to the first, with the Prairie Stars netting a goal a little over thirteen minutes into the half to take a 2-1 lead. The Dragons, having to play from behind again, dug in and fought their way back to even in the 74th minute. Ali McCabe found the back of the net on a penalty kick to bring the teams even at 2-2. Tiffin and Illinois-Springfield remained tied for the remainder of the half, forcing overtime.

Neither team had many opportunities in the first overtime, with the Praire Stars firing one shot and the Dragons doing the same. In the 2nd OT, Tiffin had two opportunities, but were denied by the keeper for Illinois-Springfield, preserving the 2-2 tie.

For Tiffin, Gudenkova collects her second goal of the season and Tobin earns her second assist. The goal by Ali McCabe was her first of the 2017 season. Samantha Ortenzi made seven saves for Tiffin, facing a total of 21 shots.

The Dragons now sit 0-1-1 and will be back in action on Monday, welcoming in Lewis for their home opener.
