Tiffin University had three wrestlers continue after the first day of competition at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Branden Mendoza (125 pounds) remained unbeaten heading to day two, going 3-0 on day one. He shut out Quincy 13-0, edged Newberry 11-9 in sudden victory, and outpointed Colorado Mines 6-2.
Clayton Ours (285) also moved on with three victories. He beat Findlay 4-0 and then won two close matches over Colorado Mines 8-6 and UNC-Pembroke 7-4.
Casey Barnett (157) also advanced, getting three wins by fall over Upper Iowa in 2:43, Maryville in 49 seconds, and King in 2:05.
Also picking up wins on day one was Jack Collins at 133 pounds (Bluefield State by fall in 2:16, 8-2 over Lake Erie, 7-5 over Gannon), Matt Zuckerman at 149 pounds (13-2 over Newman, 11-3 over Quincy), Connor Twigg at 174 pounds (DQ over Kentucky Wesleyan, 7-1 over Adams State, 5-4 over Central Missouri), Dylan Mansor at 165 pounds (6-1 over Emmanuel), and Geraldo Moya at 197 pounds (7-3 over American International).
