LaVearn and Boyd named NWCA All-Academic

The Tiffin University wrestling program had a pair of grapplers named NWCA All-Academic. The distinction is earned by having a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.0 for those who qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships. The athlete must also be in at least a second full year at his school, and have competed in a minimum of six dates of competition.

Senior Chase Boyd and sophomore Bryan LaVearn were the two individuals that earned the selection. Boyd, a native of Marysville, Ohio, entered the 2018 season with a 57-21 overall record. Chase is an All-GLIAC wrestler, GLIAC All-Academic selection, and was a 2018 national qualifier. Bryan LaVearn hails from Ortonville, Michigan and entered the 2018 season with a 14-8 record. LaVearn finished a strong year with his first-ever trip the the NCAA Division II National Championships.
