Last  Time Out – The Dragons participated at the Michigan State Open last weekend, and made some serious noise. Tiffin saw Trey Grine finish 3rd at 149 pounds, posting wins over Arizona State twice and Michigan. Grine earned victories over the #11 and #14 wrestlers at the NCAA Division I level. Some of Tiffin's youngsters saw success, as Tiffin had three athletes post multiple victories over NCAA Division I programs in the freshman/sophomore division.

Grine Time – Trey Grine was a monster for Tiffin last season, posting a 32-11 record. Trey finished with 52 takedowns and three pins. The 32 victories by Grine were the 5th most in Tiffin history in a single season. FloWrestling.org recently made note of Grine's success at the Michigan State Open, publishing the following: "Division II wrestlers are ineligible for these rankings, but if they weren't, Tiffin University's Trey Grine would find himself in the top 20 after peeling off two top-20 victories at the Michigan State Open last weekend. Grine beat then-No. 20 Malik Amine and then-No. 11 Josh Maruca." To view article – Click Here

Last Year's Open – The Dragons saw two grapplers place at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open last season. One of those placers was Chase Boyd, earning 4th place in 2016. Boyd returns this year looking for a better showing. In the freshman/sophomore divisions, Tiffin had four wrestlers place with Bryan LaVearn climbing the highest with a 2nd place finish.

This Year's Field – The field includes some of the best in the nation from the ranks of both NCAA Division I and Division II. Some of the more highly touted Division I teams include #2 Ohio State, #24 Pittsburgh, #25 Edinboro, Navy, and Buffalo. Three top-25 Division II teams will be present - #3 Notre Dame College, #11 Ashland University, and #16 Seton Hill University.

Coaches' Corner –"This will be our second year going to the Ohio Intercollegiate Open at Case Western. Last year there was a lot of high quality teams and athletes in attendance and as a coaching staff we are excited to head back up there. This weekend was a tough choice between the Eastern Michigan Open and Ohio Intercollegiate Open, but as a staff we felt it would be nice to get away from some of the teams we consistently see throughout the season. It has been a great week of training and we are looking to build off our momentum from the Michigan State Open."
