TU lands 6 All GLIAC picks, Simcoe Coach of Year

GLIAC Champion Tiffin University landed six All GLIAC selections while Head Coach Joey Simcoe was also named GLIAC Coach of the Year, as the annual conference awards were announced.

Landing First Team honors were Trey Grine (141 pounds), Sam Viengmany (157) and Garrett Gray (285), while Second Team laurels went to Michael Screptock (149), Chase Boyd (174), and Kevin Christman (197).

Grine has dominated at 141, posting a 29-8 record and currently holding a ranking of 4th in NCAA Division II. Viengmany posted a 12-10 mark at 157, while Gray has also had another dominating season. He holds a team best 35-2 mark, is ranked 4th in the nation and 1st in the region, and is also near the top in most falls and most dominant wrestler in the country.

Screptock has also excelled, holding a 25-8 record and is ranked 5th in the nation. Boyd holds a 14-12 mark on the season, while Christman has put up a strong 14-2 mark in limited action and is also ranked in the Top 10 in the country.

Simcoe guided Tiffin University to their first ever GLIAC Championship, as the team went unbeaten in conference duals. They defeated Lake Erie 29-18, Ashland 22-20, and Findlay 21-16 and are currently ranked 7th in NCAA Division II under his direction. He has been instrumental in developing one of the region's most competitive programs, featuring four wrestlers ranked in the Top 10 in the nation. Simcoe, in his sixth season, has helped the Dragons send 11 wrestlers to NCAA Nationals under his watch. They are also currently ranked 6th in Super Region 2 by D2Wrestle.com.
