Why Stop At Five?

The Tiffin University women's lacrosse team is currently on a five game winning streak, defeating their opponents by an average of 7.6 goals per game over the five game heater. It is a full docket this weekend, as Tiffin welcomes in the Northern Michigan University Wildcats on Friday and the Grand Valley State Lakers on Sunday. This weekend is also a celebration of the past and present, as Tiffin lacrosse will welcome back alumni to Frost-Kalnow Stadium. 

Tiffin vs. Northern Michigan - Friday, April 7 - 7:00 PM

Wildcats: As with most first year programs, it has been a rough go for Northern Michigan. sitting at 2-7 on the year, the Wildcats were beaten 20-1 last weekend by McKendree. Both wins this season are out of conference, defeating Notre Dame College and Northland.

Cracked Crease: Northern has one of the worst scoring margins in the nation, dropping games by an average of 8.38 goals per game, 92nd in the nation. The Wildcats are allowing 16.38 goals per game, last in the GLIAC and 92nd in the nation.

No Sharing, No Caring: The Wildcats are only averaging 1.13 assists per game, 98th of 100 NCAA Division II teams. Totaling 12 assists on the season, only two players have more than one assist.

Free Efficiency: One area where Northern Michigan has excelled is in the free position goal scoring area. The Wildcats are 17-38 on the year, 33rd in the nation.

Goalie Report: Brianna Bangle has played and started all nine games for the Wildcats, allowing 132 goals and making 95 saves.

Player To Watch: 

Shely Klotz - The sophomore midfielder leads Northern Michigan with 26 goals scored and 27 total points. Klotz is 6th in the GLIAC in goals scored and shooting percentage. 

 

Tiffin vs. Grand Valley State - Sunday, April 9 - 1:00 PM

Location: Frost-Kalnow Stadium

All-Time Series - Grand Valley State holds a 9-1 series lead, but this will only be the fourth time Tiffin has ever played the Lakers at home over the course of the five year series.

Lakers: Grand Valley State is 2-6 overall this season and 1-0 in GLIAC play. In their last game, they defeated the Indianapolis Greyhounds 15-11.

Murderers' Row: As the saying goes, you have to play the best in order to beat the best, in the Lakers case it isn't for lack of trying. Grand Valley has played eight games this season with seven being against nationally ranked opponents. The ranked opponents haven't been towards the bottom of the rankings, squaring off with No. 1, No. 2 twice, No. 3, No. 7, No. 13, and No. 20. 

Goalie Report: The Lakers have used two goalies this season. Sarah Zwilsky has played in eight games, starting six. In her time in goal, she has allowed 62 goals while making 44 saves. Brianna DeMilia has seen action in seven games with two starts. She has allowed 55 goals and has saved 30 shot attempts.

Player To Watch: 

Abbi O'Neal - Leading the Lakers in total points with 16, O'Neal is second on the team with 14 goals scored, leads the Lakers in draw controls, shots on goal, and free position goals.
