Dragons Bury Blue Knights With Triples

The Tiffin University women's basketball team got back on the right side of the scoreboard on Monday afternoon, defeating Urbana University for the second time this season. The Dragons hit 10 three pointers on their way to a 72-61 victory.

Tiffin's offense hit the ground running in the 1st quarter, jumping out to a 15-9 lead with three minutes remaining in the period. The Dragons added four more points to their total before the 1st quarter buzzer, and headed to quarter number two with a 19-16 lead. 

The Blue Knights greeted the Dragons with a 13-3 run to start the 2nd quarter, taking a 29-22 lead at the midway point of the period. Tiffin rose off the mat and fought their way back into the game. The Dragons reeled off 11 straight points to finish the quarter and take a 33-29 lead to the halftime locker room.

With a four point lead in tow, Tiffin put forth their best offensive quarter in the 3rd. It didn't start pretty, allowing the Knights to retake the lead at 37-36, but the Dragons churned their way forward with layups and free throws. Tiffin finished the quarter 3 for 4 from the line and netted six layups as they headed to the final quarter with a 56-46 lead.

The Blue Knights wouldn't go away quietly, cutting Tiffin's 10-point lead to four as the final quarter began. Tiffin responded with a 10-1 run to swing momentum back in their favor. The Dragons continued to push the ball offensively, logging four more layups as Tiffin slayed the Blue Knights 72-61.

The Dragons featured three players in double figures, with Ali Schirmer scoring 19 points on 7 of 12 shooting from the field. Annie Santucci continued to impress off the bench with 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting including a 3 of 6 performance from beyond the arc. Cynthia Concepcion filled the box score with 13 points, four boards, and three assists all while coming off the bench.

With the win, Tiffin improves to 4-8 overall.
