Women's Basketball Picked 6th In GLIAC Preseason Poll

The Dragons received 20 votes in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, placing them 6th in the GLIAC South.

The Tiffin University women's basketball team received 20 votes in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, placing them 6th.

The rearranged GLIAC South features preseason favorite and reining National Champion Ashland, Saginaw Valley State, Northwood, Wayne State, and Davenport University. The Dragons return six players from last season's team and look to build upon their returning experience and talented newcomers.

The Dragons finished last year 6-19 overall and 4-16 in the GLIAC. Tiffin will look to find themselves in their final season in the GLIAC, looking to an experienced lineup to lead the change.

The guard position is where most of the experience lies, as Ali Schirmer and Allie Miller will control the offense. Schirmer averaged 10.4 points per game; hitting 38.6% of her three point attempts. Ali did a good job distributing the basketball, averaging 2.4 assists per game. Allie Miller is the shooting guard for Tiffin, averaging 8.9 points per game. Miller hit 43% of her field goal attempts and 37.5% of her three point attempts. Miller also excelled in finding open teammates, finishing with 2.1 assists per game. The post has some experience, as Sarah Cummings and Madison Jackson will anchor the group. Jackson saw action in 25 games last season. Cummings played in 25 games, averaging 6.0 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Tiffin will open the 2017-18 season at the Lake Erie Conference Challenge. Tiffin will play Lake Erie College on November 11, and then Findlay the next day. Tiffin's first home game will be on November 15, hosting Urbana. The Dragons open GLIAC play at Ferris State on November 30. December 7, will be Tiffin's first home GLIAC game, welcoming in Davenport University.
