Dragons felled by Storm in sweep

Tiffin University (14-15, 1-3 GLIAC) could not get key hits at the right time, connecting on 17 hits but getting just one extra base hit in a doubleheader loss to Lake Erie. They fell in the opener 6-5 and the nightcap 4-2.

In the opener, Libby Crow singled and was sacrificed to third. Michelle Poe singled to drive her home and give TU a 1-0 lead in the first inning. 

Lake Erie struck sudden blows, drilling a three run home run in the bottom of the first to retake the lead 3-1. They then followed with a 2-run shot in the third inning to jump ahead 5-1.

In the fifth, TU tried to come back. Crow singled again. After moving to second, Allyson Rock got another single to bring TU to within 5-2.

TU came up with 3 big runs in the top of the 6th inning to tie the game 5-5. Hayley Kobie was hit by a pitch, and an error in right field put another base runner on. A ground out to third base brought one run home, and Sydney Priests followed with another single and RBI. After Alayna Lytle was sacrificed to second base, Jamie Sevenish got another RBI with a single.

Lake Erie responded in the bottom of the sixth, getting a two-out single to put them ahead 6-5. TU could not respond in the 7th.

April Bennett took the loss in relief, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing an earned run on 2 hits with a walk and 4 strikeouts. Kimmy Reynolds started, lasting 2.1 innings and allowing 5 earned runs.

Poe had 3 hits with an RBI, while Crow also had 2 hits.. Sevenish, Rock, Sierra Besser-Paul, and Priest all had RBIs.

In the nightcap, TU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Lytle walked, Crow had a bunt single, and Kate-Lynn Urgo had another single to load the bases. Samantha Ringwalt smacked TU's lone extra base hit on the day, a two-run double.

Lake Erie put together two doubles in the fourth leading to three runs. Another double in the 7th inning gave the Storm an insurance run heading to Tiffin's last at-bats. The Dragons had baserunners in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings but could not get them home.

Sarah Chalfant took the loss, allowing 3 earned runs over 4 innings. Reynolds pitched 3 innings, allowing an earned run.

Crow and Urgo had 2 hits each, while Ringwalt had a double for 2 RBI.
