Jasin wins GMAC pole vault title as TU sits in 2nd

The Tiffin University men's track and field team sits in second place after day one of the GMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

TU finished the day with 47 points, behind Findlay with 54 points, above Ashland with 34 points, and Cedarville with 24 points.

Collin Jasin took first place in the pole vault, earning his team ten points with a season-high mark of 5.13 meters which is an NCAA DII Provisional mark, Noah Bitter came in fifth with a mark of 4.78 meters to earn Tiffin four points, and Cade Carter finished seventh with a mark of 4.63 meters, earning two team points.

A trio of Dragons qualified for the 60-meter dash finals, all hitting NCAA DII Provisional marks with Malachi Adams leading the way with a time of 6.76, Tajarie Arthurton with a time of 6.84, and Michael McNeil with a time of 6.86.

The Dragons had a great showing in the weight throw with three athletes earning points. Jacob McPherson led the trio with a second-place finish and a mark of 20.13 meters, Benedict Draghi came in fourth with a mark of 19.26 meters, and John Casper was eighth with a throw of 18.62 meters.

The distance medley relay team of Nickerson, McNeil, Gleeson, and Ondracek took second place in the 4000 DMR with a time of 9:58.68, setting a new Tiffin University record in the DMR.

Josiah Gadson came in fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.99 meters to earn Tiffin five points and Dorian Holida in fifth to earn Tiffin four points.

AJ Neal qualified for the finals of the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.43.

Michael McNeil led the trio in the 200 dash prelims to qualify for tomorrow's finals with a time of 22.43, followed by Kyron Rogers with a time of 22.53, and lastly Tajarie Arthurton with a time of 22.62.
