Baker, Burrows Sweep GMAC Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS - Tiffin men's track & field keeps racking up weekly honors as seniors Jonte Baker and Cameron Burrows have been named the GMAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week for Feb. 10-16.

So far in 2019-20, the Dragon men's squad has claimed 10 of the possible 16 conference athletes of the week, with three coming on the track and seven in the field events.

With the cameras filming and flashes popping on national TV, Baker and several of his Dragon teammates showcased their talents at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. last weekend.

Baker ran a 6.62 among the fastest men in the country in the 60-meter dash to officially match his own conference record.

Baker also ran two different times of 6.67 as he prepares to defend his NCAA DII national title in the 60-meter dash.

The senior had also run a 6.62 in last year's final of the NCAA DII Championships and owns nine of the top 10 marks in conference history in the 60-meter dash.

Baker is at the top of the pack of seven automatic qualifiers in the event in Division II and ranks 11th nationwide this season, including Division I competition.

Baker was also named the USTFCCCA DII Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career for his performance at the USATF Indoor Championships, a specific qualifying event.

Burrows remains No. 1 in Division II in the high jump and he recorded yet another top 10 record book performance at the Findlay Alumni Classic.

With his season-best height at sitting at 2.19m, Burrows cleared 2.10m (6' 10.75") to take first place. It was another provisional mark for the talented senior.

This is Burrows' second conference field athlete of the week honor for the current 2019-20 season.
