Tiffin Men Selected Atop USTFCCCA Preseason Ratings

NEW ORLEANS - Tiffin men's track & field has reloaded and is ready to begin the 2019-20 campaign, and will now enter the Indoor season as the top-ranked team in Division II according to the USTFCCCA Rating Index.

This is the first time that the Dragon men have ever entered the season atop the preseason ratings as they look to make it five-straight indoor seasons with a trophy at the National Championships. Tiffin took the Division II team title in both 2016 and 2017, earned a second-place finish in 2018, and came home with third a year ago in 2019.

Rounding out the top five in the index, in order, are Colorado School of Mines, Central Missouri, last year's champion Ashland, and Lincoln (Mo.). The next highest GMAC program is Findlay in 21st.

The Dragons return eight qualifiers and five All-Americans from last year's third-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, led by senior sprinter Jonte Baker. Baker took the crown in the 60m a season ago, and followed that up with national titles in both the 100m and 4x100m Relay at the Outdoor Championships.

Cameron Burrows (high jump, 3rd), Jabari Bennett (shot put, 3rd), Nikolas Curtiss (shot put, 4th), and Quincy Scott (long jump, 7th) are the other returning Dragons that earned All-American status at the national indoor meet in 2019.

Tiffin will get the indoor season underway in just 10 days when they host the Tiffin Alumni Open on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the Heminger Center.
