Tiffin recognized in ITA regional rankings

Tiffin University's men's tennis team had a number of placements in the final ITA regional rankings released June 2.

Overall the men's team (17-8) was ranked 6th in the Midwest Region. Fresh off their GMAC Championship performance, Tiffin University's men's tennis team also recently finished the regular season ranked 50th in the final ITA national poll.

TU is the highest-ranked GMAC school, with Walsh ranked 7th and Findlay 9th. 

The Dragons were the regular season and tournament champions in the GMAC, while also qualifying for the first time for the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Ruben Fonga was also ranked 10th on the singles rankings with a 19-5 record including a team-best 10 wins at first singles. Only Brennan Cimpeanu of Hillsdale (6th) and Jakob Riglewski of Walsh (9th) were ranked higher amongst GMAC singles players.

The doubles team of Matthew Telford/Michael Gurtner was also ranked, landing at 8th. They are also ranked nationally, hitting a season-high mark of 29th. They had previously been as high as 39th on March 18. The pair have a 10-4 overall doubles record.
