Tiffin competes at Ball State

Jonah Sumfleth won three individual events as the Tiffin men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at Ball State.

The men fell 173-101 while the women lost 176-46. But one of the highlights of the day was Sumfleth's victories in three events. He won the 100 backstroke in 51.69, the 100 butterfly in 51.41, and the 200 IM in 1:57.05. He also came in second in the 200 medley relay along with Jan Suchan, Nathan Marr, and Yun Hung Tan in 1:40.08.

Other men's winners included Tan in the 200 butterfly in 1:56.38 and Suchan in the 200 backstroke in 1:52.45.

Second place finishes went to Matthew Laporte (1000 free in 10:29.20, 500 free in 5:16.71), Suchan (100 backstroke in 51.90), Jordan Wright (1 meter and 3 meter dive), Coby Deville (100 free in 51.88), Marr (200 breaststroke in 2:24.46) and the 200 free relay of Seth Tessmer, Tan, Deville, and Suchan in 1:31.24.

For the women, Catie Gorton won the 200 butterfly in 2:10.45 and the 100 butterfly in 59.34. She also teamed with Anastasiia Kvitchenko, Wixie Lehman, and Izzy Tarchione in the 200 free relay to finish second in 1:50.75, and took third in the 200 IM.

Second place finishes went to Lehman (100 free in 1:03.13) and Kvitchenko (100 butterfly in 1:00.52, 200 IM in 2:19.27).
