Tiffin remains unbeaten with 3-1 win over Malone

Tiffin University (6-1-1, 5-0-1 G-MAC) remained unbeaten in the conference with a solid 3-1 win over Malone.

The Dragons controlled the tempo throughout the game, holding the ball 71 percent of the time. They got on the board early, scoring in the 9th minute when Luke Alexander-Frost took a pass from Malvin Gblah and drove it home for a 1-0 lead.

They tacked on another goal before halftime when Noah Purtz drove right side off a pass from Davide Frezzi and shot it off the defender's head and into the net for a 2-0 advantage.

Malone pulled to within a goal in the 43rd minute when a shot by Josh Lord trickled over the goal line to make it 2-1 at the break.

Tiffin's defense continued to shut down Malone throughout the second half, though, not allowing a shot in the second half. Thierry van den Bergh knocked home a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box in the 67th minute to put the game out of reach.

Overall TU outshot Malone 23-3, only allowing 3 shots on goal while putting 13 shots on target. The Dragons also held a 12-3 corner kick edge.

Declan Lehmann got the win in goal, making 2 saves over 90 minutes.

The Dragons now take on Walsh University Oct. 4 at 2:30 pm in their next game.
