TU shatters school D2 record in 9-0 win over Panthers

Tiffin University (8-3-3, 7-2-3 GMAC) had the greatest offensive day in its Division II history, exploding past Ohio Dominican 9-0.

The 9 goals were the most since TU went Division II in 2008 and also the highest single-game total since a 14-1 blowout of Shawnee State in 2003. The school's all-time record is 16 goals.

The game also marked the sixth time in the last seven games that TU posted a shutout. Seven of their eight victories have come by shutout, with 8 total so far this season.

The Dragons outshot ODU 29-4 with 17 shots on goal. The defense allowed only one shot on goal in the game. They also held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

TU scored four goals in the first half. Michael Owusu put a shot in the top right of the goal off a pass from Juan Rosique Alvarez to open scoring in the 9th minute. 

Things started to fall apart in the 26th minute when the Dragons got an own goal, followed two minutes later by a goal to the bottom left by Stephen Owusu off a pass from Chewe Mukuka.

The final goal of the half came from Davide Frezzi, who took a two-touch pass from George McCarthy and Mukuka to put TU up 4-0 at the break.

TU added three more goals over a four-minute span in the second half. In the 63rd minute, Malvin Gblah nailed a shot to the top left of the goal off a pass from Stephen Owusu, and followed it up two minutes later on a shot to bottom center by Gblah. Stephen Owusu then tacked on another goal to the bottom left off a pass from Michael Owusu to make it 7-0.

TU's final two goals came in the closing minutes. Tommaso Favro scored off a pass from Gblah in the 88th minute, while Mukuka ended scoring with another goal in the 90th minute.
