TU reaches GMAC Semifinals with dramatic win over Walsh

Tiffin University (9-4-5) scored a game-winning goal in dramatic fashion, beating Walsh 2-1 in the GMAC Tournament quarterfinals.

Abdoul Magid Sy tallied his second goal of the game, knocking it home with just 49 seconds remaining in regulation to send TU home with the victory. The win now pits TU against top-seed Lake Erie at 7:30 pm in the GMAC Semifinals Nov. 14.

Tiffin opened scoring in the 37th minute, as Sy took a pass from Leo Hasenstab to give TU a 1-0 halftime lead.

Walsh equalized in the 68th minute and kept up the pressure on TU goalkeeper Dylan Morris. Just eight minutes after tying the game, Walsh sent another shot on goal with Morris making a save. The Cavaliers then sent another potential gamewinner towards the Dragons net in the 88th minute with Morris making another big save.

The Dragons got the gamewinner off a corner kick by Lukas Manneck which Sy drove home for the win.

Morris made 4 saves over 90 minutes, as the TU defense allowed just 5 total shots on goal.

Overall TU outshot Walsh 17-10 while also holding a 10-4 edge in corner kicks.
