The Oilers and Cardinals on deck for Tiffin

The Tiffin University men's soccer team will host Findlay on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference match before jumping back in GLIAC play when they travel to Saginaw Valley State on Sunday.

Tiffin University vs. University of Findlay

Last Outing: The Oilers had the last laugh in GLIAC play last season, defeating Tiffin 1-0 last October. Prior to that match, Tiffin hammered Findlay 4-0 in late September of 2016.

Oilers: Findlay has moved on to the G-MAC, and have enjoyed great success. The Oilers are 9-2 overall and 8-2 in G-MAC matches. Findlay started the season 5-0 before falling to Ohio Valley and Davis & Elkins. Since those two losses, the Oilers have reeled off three straight wins, outscoring the opposition 13-4. 

Offensive Outburst: Findlay has had a great season on the offensive end, averaging 2.73 goals per game. Findlay has scored three or more goals in five of their 11 matches. Findlay has taken 65 more shots than their opponents and hold a 102-62 advantage in shots on goal.

Players To Watch: 

Josh Burton: Leading the team in goals with 7, Burton has a team high 15 points on a team high 44 shots.

Josh Hales: The freshman has scored six goals thus far this year, with 50% of his shots coming on goal.

 

Tiffin University vs. Saginaw Valley State University

Last Outing: The Dragons played the Cardinals tough about three weeks ago, fighting their way to a 2-2 draw. At the time, the Cardinals were 13th in the nation. Tiffin got goals from Abdoul Magid Sy and Matthew Tait.

Cardinals: In the last updated poll, Saginaw Valley State was 10th in the nation. Saginaw Valley State has won 4 of their last 5, but the lone loss was a tough one. A 1-0 defeat at the hands of Northwood University allowed the Timberwolves to take a one game lead in the GLIAC.

Home Sweet Home: The Cardinals enjoy playing at home, holding a 4-1 record.

Connor Rutz: Leading the team in goals with 6, Rutz also leads the Cardinals in points with 13.

Connor Keane: The Cardinals goalkeeper is allowing only 0.71 goals per game, reeling in 28 saves.
