The Tiffin University men's soccer team knew they had a tough schedule coming in to the 2017 season, and it was no exception on Thursday night. The Dragons went toe-to-toe with the defending GMAC Champions, Alderson Broaddus Battlers, but came up short 1-0.

It was all defense in the 1st half, as the Dragons managed only two shots with one coming on goal. The Battlers fired four shots with only one on goal. Neither team had many chances from the corner, with both managing only one corner kick attempt.

In the 2nd half, it was more of the same for Tiffin, they fired two shots with only one on goal. The Battlers doubled their shots in the 2nd half, and in the 65th minute broke the scoreless tie with a strike to the back of the net to lead 1-0. Over the final 25-minutes of action Tiffin managed only one shot as the Battlers were able to hold on for the season opening win.

Cary Wilson took the tough loss in goal, facing three shots, saving two.

The Dragons will be back in action on Saturday, opening the home part of their schedule with a matchup against the University of Illinois at Springfield at 2:00 pm.
