Tiffin University (8-11, 6-6 G-MAC) had an offensive drought at the end of the first half and could not bounce back, falling at Ashland 74-61.
The first half was close until the 7:30 mark. Trailing just 20-18, TU managed just three more points the rest of the half, getting outscored 21-3 over the final 7:30 to trail 41-21 at halftime.
The Dragons tried to claw their way back in the game, putting together a 25-15 burst that brought them to within 10 points with 7:30 left in the game.
The Dragons could get no closer than 8 points the remainder of the game, though, as Ashland made 7 free throws in the final minute to put the game away.
Overall Ashland outshot the Dragons 49 percent to 39 percent while also holding a 17-6 scoring edge at the free throw line. The Dragons were outrebounded 37-32 while also getting outscored in the paint 42-28.
Ian Lopez led the team with 16 points, while Trent Williams had 11 points with 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Carius Key added 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, and Joshua Rivers had 7 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
