Tiffin University (2-2) got its Puerto Rico trip off on the right foot with a solid 82-69 win over Metropolitana-Puerto Rico at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez.
The Dragons used a big game at the foul line and underneath the basket to get the win. TU held a 51-36 rebounding edge and went to the line 37 times, sinking 30 of them. They outscored Metro at the line by 16 points.
TU, which led at the half 42-35, also hit 42 percent from three point, draining 8 treys. TU also held a 22-6 edge in second chance points.
Juwan Johnson led the team with 17 points, including 4 of 5 from three point. Khaleal McCormick also had 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Tony Kynard had 11 points and 5 rebounds and Austin Adams had 10 points with 6 rebounds.
