TU falls in finale 78-67

Tiffin University (11-17, 6-14 GLIAC) held an early lead but couldn't hold on, as Ashland came back and defeated TU in their season finale 78-67.

The Dragons started the game in strong fashion, amassing a 31-17 lead with just 7:00 left in the first half. But the Eagles rallied over the remainder of the half, putting together their own 16-4 run to close the gap, steal momentum and trail just 35-33 at the half.

As the second half started, the Eagles put together another small run, outscoring TU 11-0 to jump ahead by 10 points. But the Dragons could not respond, as the Eagles matched TU bucket for bucket. TU could not get closer than 10 points throughout the half, as AU pushed their lead to as much as 14 points throughout the half.

Overall, poor shooting hurt the Dragons. They managed just 34 percent from the field in the game while Ashland shot 43 percent. AU also held a 45-40 rebounding edge. The Eagles also turned 12 TU turnovers into 16 points.

Juwan Johnson and Khaleal McCormick led the team with 17 points apiece, with Johnson also getting 5 rebounds. Tony Kynard had 11 points with 5 rebounds, while Austin Adams had 7 points with 9 rebounds. Alex Brown also had 11 points with 9 rebounds.
