Dragons face GLIAC's top teams

With their two opponents this week having a combined 27-5 record, the Tiffin University men's basketball team will have to dust themselves off and get ready for another tough week in the GLIAC, hosting the University of Findlay and then traveling to Walsh University.

Last Tiffin Win: 57-55 - at Findlay on January 12, 2013.

Opponent: University of Findlay (14-4, 8-3 GLIAC 1st place), 9-1 in their last 10 games.

Give and Take: Findlay leads the GLIAC in assists per game with 17.7 (21st in the NCAA), and is the leader in steals per game with 8.6 per game (33rd in the NCAA). Making this stat even more impressive is the fact that the Oilers average only 15.1 personal fouls per game, 2nd in the GLIAC and 17th in the NCAA.

Accuracy and Efficiency: The Oilers are averaging 85 points per game, 3rd in the GLIAC and 43rd in the NCAA. It's not surprising that they average a high amount of points, considering they rank inside the top 5 in field goal percentage and 3-point percentage. 

Players to Watch:

Martyce Kimbrough - Averaging 18.5 points per game, Kimbrough leads the Oilers in field goal attempts per game, 3-point makes per game, 3-point attempts per game, and free throw percentage (3rd in the nation at 95.9%).

Taren Sullivan - Averaging 16.7 points per game, Sullivan leads the Oilers in field goals made per game, field goal percentage, and rebounds per game.

Elijah Kahlig - Averaging 9.9 points per game, Kahlig leads the Oilers in 3-point shooting percentage. His 43.7% success rate from beyond the arc is 9th best in the GLIAC.

Offensive Minded: The Cavaliers rank inside the top 5 in the GLIAC in points per game (82.9), field goals made per game (29.8), field goal percentage (48.5), free throws attempted per game (19.5), free throws made per game (15.1), and free throw percentage (77.5).

Ball Control: The Cavaliers commit only 10.9 turnovers per game, 3rd in the GLIAC. On the other hand, Walsh is next to last in the conference rankings in blocks per game (1.7) and steals per game (4.8).

Players to Watch:

Zac Carter - Averaging 25.3 points per game, Carter leads the GLIAC in minutes per game, field goal attempts, free throw attempts, points per game, and points per 40 minutes. Nationally, Zac is 3rd in points per game.

Trey Fletcher - Averaging 21.5 points per game, Fletcher leads the Cavaliers in rebounds per game (8.4), and is 2nd in the GLIAC in total rebounds (151). 

Jameel Moore - Averaging 9.3 points per game, Moore is 2nd in assists per game (2.4), and leads the Cavaliers in steals per game (0.9).

Dragons: 

Tiffin will look to right the ship against the Oilers and Cavaliers, having lost three straight games. Tiffin fell to the Hillsdale Chargers 80-62 last Saturday, surrendering 80 points for the 8th time this season. Of those eight games, Tiffin has won only once. 

Getting to the Stripe: Tiffin leads the GLIAC in free throws made per game with 17.7 per game (37th in the NCAA), and is 2nd in the GLIAC in free throw attempts per game with 24.6. 

Boards Galore: The Dragons continue to be the top offensive rebounding team in the GLIAC with 14.4 per game (17th in the NCAA). Tiffin is averaging 40.9 total rebounds per game, 2nd in the GLIAC and 43rd in the NCAA.

Cold From Distance: During Tiffin's current three game losing streak, the Dragons are hitting only 28% of their 3-point attempts, and only 39% of their total field goal attempts. Prior to the current slide, Tiffin had won three straight games, and were hitting 38% of their 3-point attempts and 45% of their total field goal attempts.
