Dragons Fall to Panthers 82-74

The Tiffin University men's basketball team dropped their home GLIAC matchup with the Ohio Dominican Panthers on Saturday afternoon, falling 82-74.

Tiffin held a slight advantage early in the 1st half, but it was short-lived. The Panthers prowled ahead with a 15-2 run to lead 20-12 with 11:31 remaining. Austin Adams and Khaleal McCormick did their best to give Tiffin a fighting chance, pulling the Dragons within a point after a 7-0 run. Ohio Dominican kept burying triples, making six in the half to take a 40-34 lead to the half.

At the break, Adams (15 points) and McCormick (14 points) accounted for 29 of Tiffin's 34 points. The Panthers' bench provided a spark, scoring 10 points, as Tiffin's supporting cast was held scoreless.

An Adams' jumper made it 40-36 to start the 2nd half, but ODU rattled off seven straight points to bolster their lead to 47-36. The Panthers' lead never exceeded 11 points, but they were able to respond to every Tiffin run with a counter punch. At three different points in the game, Tiffin cut Dominican's lead to four points, and at one point had a chance to trail by only two. The Panthers, seeing their lead cut to 74-71 with 02:28 left, finished the game on an 8-3 run to seal an 82-74 victory.

Adams led the charge in both the scoring column, 28 points, and the rebounding department with 8. McCormick scored 23 points on 9 of 17 shooting and led Tiffin with three made 3-point buckets. ODU held a 40-37 rebounding advantage, 42-38 lead in points in the paint, and 12-6 advantage in points off turnovers.

Tiffin falls to 10-13 overall and 6-10 in GLIAC play.
