Football Announces 2017 Schedule

Tiffin University's football team has announced its 2017 schedule, looking to continue the momentum from their standout 8-3 2016 campaign.

The Dragons will open with two non-conference games. They host the University of Findlay on Thursday night, Aug. 31 to open the season and follow it up with a road trip Sept. 9 to Lake Erie.

Conference play opens up the following week, as TU takes on Davenport on the road Sept. 16 in their GLIAC opener. They then return home to finish  September with a game against Wayne State on Sept. 23 and the annual Homecoming game Sept. 30 against Northwood.

TU will split time at home and on the road in October. On Oct. 7 TU will travel to Ferris State before coming hom on Oct. 14 against Northern Michigan. They remain home on Oct. 21 with a game against GLIAC South rival Ashland. They then finish the month with a road trip to Saginaw Valley State on Oct. 28.

TU finishes its regular season on Nov. 4 with a game against Michigan Tech on Senior Night before finishing the season on the road Nov. 11 at Grand Valley State.

In 2016, Tiffin finished 8-3 overall, the first winning season since 2007-08. In conference play, TU posted a 7-3 record, finishing 2nd in the GLIAC South and 4th overall. The run game was a strong asset for Tiffin gaining 2,217 yards, the most under Coach Goff. The Dragons' offense excelled, averaging 31.4 points per game, 6th best in the GLIAC. As a unit, Tiffin's offense committed only 11 turnovers, a new single season record for least turnovers committed. Defensively Tiffin surrendered 22 points per game (4th in the GLIAC), six points less than the prior season. The group finished with the 2nd best pass defense in the GLIAC (186.8 y/g), and surrendered six less rushing touchdowns than 2015.
