Tiffin University's western team made some history at the OSU Regional meet.
Tiffin University's western equestrian team competed at Regionals at Ohio State University in Marysville and made a little team history along the way.

Reserve Champion seniors Ashley Koszalka in Reining and Racheal Dowczek in Advanced joined Champion Novice Lindsay Weiser to qualify for the National Semi Finals in Ocala, Florida March 15-17. This is the first time in TUEQ history that a Reining rider and a Novice have moved on to semifinals.

The three riders join a handful of previous equestrian standouts in reaching the semifinal level. Alumni Michelle (Holman) Hinojosa qualified in Advanced and went on to Nationals in 2014. Alumni Ali (Dittman) Havrilla competed at national semifinals in Pumona, California in the Intermediate Division as well as Jenna (Trillet) Roberts in Beginner in 2010. Alumni Eric Pettigrew and Melissa (Cassidy) Ostings qualified in Beginner in 2011, qualifying for semifinals in Amarillo, Texas.

Overall at the OSU Regional the team finished 3rd. Good rides in the Intermediate division came from seniors Morgan Hixenbaugh and McKenzie Sargent, and juniors Calysta Herniter, Emily Boersen and Kaitlyn Borer. Sophomore Destiny Maruna placed 6th in Beginner.
