Baseball drops two at Trevecca Nazarene

Tiffin University (15-32, 7-23 G-MAC) dropped two close games at Trevecca Nazarene, falling 7-4 and 4-2.

In the opener, Kyler Archual went 7.1 innings and allowed 5 earned runs with 5 strikeouts as TU managed just five hits overall.

TU got a run in the first inning when Logan Swonger doubled and a grounder to first base moved him to third. Griffin Stevens then lofted a sacrifice fly for the RBI.

In the sixth trailing 7-1, Ty Hatfield walked and Tommy Thamann singled. A flyout to right field moved Hatfield to third, and he then scored on Tim Orr's sacrifice fly.

In the eighth, TU made a final run. Cal Brazier singled and Swonger doubled. Orr reached on an error in left field which also allowed a run in. Stevens then singled for another RBI. With bases loaded and just one out, TU struck out twice to end the threat.

In the finale, Rob DeBastos took the tough loss, allowing 4 earned runs over 5 innings.

Trailing 2-0 in the third inning, Michael Zinter doubled and came home on Stevens's RBI single.

TU again tried to rally in the sixth. Down 4-1, Orr and Brazier singled and moved up on a wild pitch. Ben Bach got one run in on a groundout to third base, but another strikeout ended the inning.

Zinter and Stevens both had two hits in the finale.
