Former ace pitcher Tyler Wehrle has signed a professional contract as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers.

At Tiffin, he received two All-Conference team selections in his sophomore and junior years. Wehrle is top five in Tiffin's career record book with 23 wins (2nd All-Time), 34 starts (3rd All-Time), five complete games (4th All-Time), 213.1 innings pitched (3rd All-Time), and 219 strikeouts (2nd All-Time).

Wehrle will fly to Arizona this Sunday to join their rookie baseball team and continue his baseball career at the professional level.

"I am happy for Tyler and his family," said Head Baseball Coach Joe Wilkins. "He put a tremendous amount of work in, and I look forward to following his professional career."

"I am extremely grateful to be able to attend Tiffin, meeting lifelong friends," said Wehrle. "I would like to thank Brady Ward, Max Dakin, Drew Patton, Alex Holley, and Joe Wilkins who helped improve all my mechanics to reach my full potential. They have been a great resource to help get my foot in the door at the professional level. This really is a dream come true as my father, who played for the Pirates, was a professional ball player, and living up to his standards is a dream come true. I hope to inspire more kids from Lakota especially my eight and eleven year old brothers to pursue their dreams. I would also like to thank the Brewers organization for giving me this opportunity, as well as Pete Shier and Adam Hubbel from Diamond Sports Agency."
