Dragons Cruise Past Florida Tech 17-8

The Tiffin University Dragons cruised past Florida Tech 17-8, as the team combined for a .417 batting average in the game with a total of 17 runs on 20 hits, and 14 RBI.

The Dragons improve to 4-8 overall, while the Panthers fell to 11-5 overall.

After two scoreless innings, the Dragons' bats caught fire as they scored four runs in the top of the third inning. A Marino Pugnetti double started the inning followed by a single by Jake Shier, then Zach Campbell was walked to load the bases for Griffin Stevens. Stevens took advantage and hit a triple to right field, scoring the three runners to force a pitching change. Cal Brazier was the first to face the new pitcher and hit a single to left field that allowed Stevens to score to lead 4-0.

The Panthers got on the board scoring one run in the bottom of the third to bring the score to 4-1.

The Dragons weren't done there as they went on to score five runs in the very next inning. With runners on second and third Campbell hit a two-RBI single to increase Tiffin's lead to 6-1. Stevens followed that with a double to right field, Campbell scored on a wild pitch as Brazier was at-bat who went on to hit a home run to left field, scoring Stevens to lead 9-1.

Florida Tech scored one in the fourth, one in the eight, and five in the bottom of the ninth. TU went on to score a total of 17 runs, on 20 hits, and 14 RBI to seal the win over host Florida Tech.

Kyler Archual got his first win of the 2022 season as he pitched 4.0 innings, allowed eight hits, two earned runs, and struck out one.
