The Dragons will look to rebound after their series opening loss to Saginaw Valley State, playing a doubleheader Saturday and a single game on Sunday.

It was a tough day at the yard for the Tiffin University baseball team, falling 17-3 to the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals. The Cardinals used big innings to rack up their run total, while relying on great starting pitching to take down Tiffin.

Tiffin starter Michael Boswell was aggressive on the hill to start the game, rolling through the opening frame with no problem. In the 2nd, the Cardinals struck first with a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead. Boswell settled down and tossed a scoreless 3rd, but the 4th was a different story for Tiffin. Saginaw Valley State plated five runs on four hits and an error, taking a 6-0 lead.

Tiffin's offense ran into a buzz saw in the form of Cardinals' starting pitcher Amani Godfrey. The right-hander dealt from the opening pitch, lasting eight innings while allowing only four hits and an unearned run.

The Cardinals plated two more runs in the 7th, and then blew the game open with a nine run 8th to lead 17-0. Tiffin got on the board in their half of the 8th, plating a single run on an error. In the 9th the Dragons added two more runs, using Alec McCurry's double to bring the score to its final at 17-3.

Boswell took the loss on the mound, falling to 1-2 on the year.

The Dragons fall to 6-9 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC.
