Dragons face tough competition at Adrian Duals

Seventh-ranked Tiffin University took on some of the nation's top teams at the Adrian Duals.

Overall the Dragons went 1-3, picking up a victory over 19th-ranked Elmira 25-23. They also fell to defending national champion and 4th-ranked McKendree 28-13 and also lost to the nation's top-ranked team North Central 46-0. In their final dual of the day, Siena Heights beat TU 23-20.

In the win over Elmira, Jenavi Alejandro (109 pounds) picked up a 10-0 tech fall victory, while Leah Pekar (116) and Mackenzie Buck (130) got forfeit wins. Paige Lenhardt (143) won via fall in 4:47, while Taryn Martin (170) did the same in just 35 seconds.

The Dragons narrowly missed a win against Siena Heights. They picked up four wins as Alejandro got another tech fall win 10-0, while Lenhardt and Erin Martin (155) got wins by fall in 5:01 and 1:01 respectively. Buck also got a forfeit win as TU was positioned to win. Losses in the final two bouts doomed the Dragons, though, as Taryn Martin fell 10-3 and Morgan Davidson (191) was pinned in 5:44.

Against McKendree, the Dragons got three wins. Alejandro won a tight contest 8-6, while Erin Martin got a pin in 1:12. Davidson also got a forfeit victory.

TU had its toughest dual against top-ranked North Central, as the Dragons were unable to get a win.

TU next competes at the Missouri Valley Open on Nov. 18-19.
