Shore leads nation for 5th-ranked Dragons

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced their January NCAA Women's Wrestling Coaches tournament rankings and their second dual rankings, with Tiffin University rising to 5th overall in the dual rankings.

King University stays atop the dual meet poll after winning the NWCA National Duals title over McKendree, who is ranked second. Third-place finisher North Central College is ranked third, followed by Colorado Mesa University at fourth.

The Dragons rose from 7th to 5th in the dual meet rankings, holding an 11-5 mark overall. In the Tournament rankings, TU is 8th with 30 points, just behind Presbyterian (35) and Colorado Mesa (32).

Olivia Shore (101 pounds) is the top-ranked grappler in the nation in her weight class and leads a total of four TU wrestlers that are nationally ranked.

Shore holds an impressive 17-1 record this season with 10 pins. She has totaled 106 points.

Also ranked were Sugey Ceja (5th at 116), Nia Miranda (7th at 143), and Taylor Hites (8th at 155).

Ceja is 13-4 overall with 5 tech falls and 123 points, while Miranda is 15-4 with 5 tech falls, 4 pins, and 114 points. Hites leads the team with 11 pins and is 17-7 for the season with 120 points.

Hites, Shore, and Shanna Morris are tied for the team lead in victories with 17 each.

Tiffin University will next compete in the Dragon Duals on Jan. 29 in the Heminger Center. Joining the Dragons will be Schreiner University, Adrian College, Hiram College, and Gannon University, with TU taking on Schreiner at 9 am.
