Tiffin University finished fourth overall at the NWCA National Duals held in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Dragons guaranteed themselves the fourth place spot with an opening-round win against Wisconsin Stevens Point 34-9, a win that advanced them to the championship bracket.
TU then faced 2nd-ranked McKendree and suffered a tough 40-4 loss. They then took on 3rd-ranked North Central and came up short in the third-place match 30-11.
Against WSP, the Dragons ran off seven straight victories after a forfeit in the 101 weight class. Shanna Morris (109) got a pin in 2:09, while Grace Jones (123) gutted out a big 14-13 win. Sugey Ceja (116) posted the first of four tech fall wins by a 10-0 score, while Solana Mottola (130), Ariana Carrasquillo (136), and Nia Miranda (143) all posted 10-0 wins. Taryn Martin (191) got a pin victory in 43 seconds, while Aliya Martin (155) won by forfeit.
Against McKendree, TU's lone victory came from Ceja, who battled hard for a 9-6 win. Jones also lost a tough 3-0 decision.
Ceja won again against North Central, this time by a 9-2 margin. Morris won a close 5-1 contest, while Miranda also got an 8-1 victory.
Three other close matches against North Central went against the Dragons. Jones fell 5-0, Mottola lost 9-5, and Taylor Hites (155) fell 6-1.
