Shore takes first at Missouri Valley Open

Tiffin University's Olivia Shore placed first at 101 pounds, leading a solid effort against some of the nation's top women's wrestlers at the Missouri Valley Open.

Overall TU finished 9th of 38 teams with 75.5 points. King won the event with 244, followed by McKendree with 210.5 and North Central with 178.5.

Shore won her first collegiate open by beating Midland by fall in just 52 seconds. She then beat Providence in the title bout with a slim 4-2 decision.

TU had two other placers. Taylor Hites was 6th at 155 pounds, falling by 10-0 tech falls to McKendree and Southern Oregon. Shanna Morris also finished 7th at 101 pounds, bouncing back after a 9-5 loss to King with an 8-4 win over Indiana Tech.

Also completing competition on day two was Sugey Ceja (116), who fell to McKendree 8-2; Ariana Carrasquillo (130), who pinned Midland in 50 seconds before losing 12-1 to North Central; and Aliya Martin (155), who fell 10-0 to Missouri Baptist.
