Ceja, Lee lead Dragons at WCWC Nationals

Two Tiffin University women's wrestlers reached the WCWC National Semifinals, while four other Dragons continued on through the consolation rounds at the 2020 Cliff Keen WCWC Women's National Championships.

Jessie Lee (191) and Sugey Ceja (109) both reached the semis, with Lee picking up wins over Limestone 10-0 and Gannon by fall in 4:56. Ceja had a couple byes but also beat McKendree 12-1 to advance in the championship bracket.

Overall Tiffin is 7th out of 19 teams with 48 points. McKendree leads the field with 106.5 points, followed by Simon Fraser with 93.5 and King with 80.

Tiffin's other remaining grapplers will battle through the consolation bracket. Trinity Oredina (101) defeated MacMurray by fall in 1:08 before falling to Colorado Mesa 10-0. Shanna Morris (116) opened with a 10-0 loss to Colorado Mesa but bounced back nicely with a 15-8 win over Ferrum and a pin over Gannon in 2:06.

Eunique Davis (130) also opened with a narrow 3-0 loss to King but then posted three strong wins in a row - 10-0 over Limestone, 11-0 over Ferrum, and 7-1 over Colorado Mesa.

Taylor Hites (155) had a tech fall win over Emmanuel 10-0 before falling to McKendree 10-0. She then rebounded with an 8-3 win over Limestone.

The championships conclude on March 7.
