Tiffin University had three standout grapplers at the Missouri Valley Open, with Sugey Ceja taking 6th.
Overall McKendree won the large open with 185.5 points, followed by King with 161.5 and Southern Oregon with 125. Tiffin was 21st of 34 teams with 43 points.
Ceja (116 pounds) posted seven wins on the day, with five coming via fall. Pin victories came against McKendree in 2:16, Missouri Valley in 1:15, Providence in 5:04, Colorado Mesa in 3:33, and Jamestown in 1:03. She also posted decisions over Colorado Mesa 10-0 and King 10-0. Ceja fell in her final two matches by fall to Lion Wrestling in 3:31 and McKendree in a slim 5-4 decision.
Savannah Stacks (123) also had a number of wins. Stacks got pins over King in 1:17 and Fontbonne in 46 seconds while also posting a 7-0 win over Providence. She then lost to Oklahoma City 10-0.
Taylor Hites (155) was the other Dragons grappler that posted mat wins. She beat Texas Wesleyan via fall in 2:48 as well as Ottawa in 2:39 while also notching a 10-0 score over Wayland Baptist. She then dropped consecutive matches to Southern Oregon in 1:27 and by an 8-2 score.
