TU wins another five-setter, down Trojans in upset

Tiffin University (12-14, 6-7 GMAC) won for the second consecutive day in a five-set thriller, this time downing Trevecca Nazarene in a GMAC upset 3-2.

The Dragons won 23-25, 25-20, 13-25, 25-21, 15-12.

The Dragons used consistent hitting to edge the Trojans, outhitting TNU .174 to .162.

In the opening set, TU built a 17-9 lead but a 10-2 run by the Trojans closed the gap and tied it 19-19. The Dragons led 22-20 late in the set but TNU won five of the final six points to take set one.

In set TU, the Dragons amassed a 20-11 lead en route to evening the match at a game apiece.

Set three reversed the trend, with Trevecca Nazarene jumping ahead 21-9 and winning the set going away.

The final two sets were neck and neck. In set four, the Dragons went on a 9-5 run late to send the match to a fifth set. They then repeated the drill in set five, putting together a 7-4 run late to seal the victory.

Taylor Peterson had another huge day with 16 kills while Wakaya Wilson added 10 kills. Kaylee Freund hit .438 on her way to 9 kills along with 5 blocks, while Alivia Rew also had 7 kills.

Clare Kwiatkowski had 47 assists with 10 digs, while Diana Heitkamp led the team with 25 digs. Josie Reinhart also had 5 kills along with 12 digs.
