Dragons pull out five-set victory at Kentucky Wesleyan

Tiffin University (11-14, 5-7 GMAC) came back from two sets down to pull out a thrilling five-set victory at Kentucky Wesleyan.

The Dragons won 22-25, 28-30, 25-19, 25-22, 15-13.

Both teams hit at comparable levels, with KWC posting a .192 attack percentage while TU hit .180. However, 14 service errors hurt the Panthers throughout the evening.

TU had chances early. In set one, tied at 19-19, Kentucky Wesleyan went on a 6-3 run late to pick up the win.

In set two, the Dragons had four set points but could not put the set away as KWC picked up two points late to steal the set.

The Dragons made their move with their backs to the wall. Tied 18-18 late, TU rallied for a 7-1 run to pick up their first set victory of the night.

The Dragons had another late rally in set four, putting together a 9-5 run to even the match at two sets apiece.

In the final set, TU had a 6-3 run that positioned them with multiple match points for the victory.

Overall Taylor Peterson had 16 kills and hit .263, while Wakaya Wilson also had 14 kills and a strong .440 hitting percentage. Josie Reinhart had 12 kills and 11 digs, while Alivia Rew also reached double figures with 11 kills and a robust .526 attack percentage.

Kaylee Freund gave TU strong depth with 7 kills and 8 blocks, while Clare Kwiatkowski had 47 assists, 14 digs, and 5 blocks. Diana Heitkamp led with 16 digs, and Marissa Sharpe added 10 digs.
